Grace Slonim is a highly competent researcher and academic with more than 10 years’ experience in the arts and cultural sector. With specialised knowledge in the artistic profession cultivated from working across a variety of arts organisations she works to support artistic professionals in the pursuit of their practice, particularly through access to funding. She has published some of her key writings with Artlink, The Australian Council of University Art and Design Schools, and The Design Files. Grace is a passionate advocate of the arts and cultural sector. To that end, she is currently a Board Member for the Jewish Museum of Australia and is engaged in a PhD project at Monash University. Her thesis examines the model of visual arts funding to bring to light the needs of artists and arts organisations who operate within this fraught landscape. Grace extends her advocacy through employment at Monash University and The University of Melbourne to support emerging practitioners and arts workers as Unit Coordinator and Teaching Associate. An energetic speaker with extensive experience, Grace has been engaged in multiple public speaking opportunities across her career. These include presentations to donors and boards, guest lectures, and academic conference presentations. She has most recently been engaged by Monash University to develop and deliver a guest lecture series on Professional Practices to all second-year and third-year Fine Art students. Further to her current studies, Grace has a Master of Art Curatorship from The University of Melbourne, and an Honours Degree of Art History and Theory and a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Monash University.
