BA/LLB Published Author of 13 books for adults, young adults and children
A litigation lawyer in a previous life, I now write full time. Among other titles, I wrote The Tattooed Flower, a memoir about my father’s time as a child survivor of the Holocaust and four Young Adult novels, published here and in Europe, the UK and U.S. My novels are studied in schools and touch on themes including the Holocaust, overcoming adversity, racism, gender inequality, poverty and the power of words. Working with schools' Social Justice teams I encourage students to be changemakers and engage in charity work through my #giveagirlabook and Help Girls Learn, Uganda programs. I've also appeared at Literary Festivals, big and small, from the Melbourne Writers' Festival to CBCA Book Week. One of my favourite parts of the job is to connect with and inspire readers. My audiences are as varied as my readership and I can adapt my appearance – whether it be a Q and A or a panel discussion – to suit teenagers or adults.
